![]() ![]() I can’t articulate it any better than that! If you’ve ever used any of Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost products, then you’ll have an idea of what I’m talking about. If you’ve ever used any of Neutrogena’s other Hydro Boost products, it’s the same fragrance. There is a scent, but it’s not a typical sunscreen smell. If you like your sunscreen to have a thin, watery consistency, then the Neutrogena Hydro Boost is as close as you’re going to get as far as Western sunscreens are concerned. The comparison to the Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Essence is apt. (It’s shorts season here, people.) Can’t report any significant pilling or flakiness, either. Unlike other (physical) sunscreens I’ve used recently, this didn’t leave any residue or runoff on my car’s leather seats. For as runny as it is, I found it absorbed into my skin quite well. Seriously, it’s like it had a mind of its own (or I’m just a slob).Īs for the lack of greasiness, that remained true. ![]() I went to cut the tube open to get the remaining sunscreen out and it dripped everywhere. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy for the most part. Maybe on par with the last Biore UV iteration. (In case you’re not aware, PA+ ratings are not recognized by the United States Food and Drug administration. The Helioplex label on the front refers to Neutrogena’s proprietary technology that’s designed to offer both UVA (anti-aging) and UVB (anti-burning) protection. Enter the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen Now that I’ve totally emptied the tube - already?! - it’s time to see how well those initial thoughts have aged. Every day, it's become a skin-care step I actually look forward to.Last month, I shared my first impressions of the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen on Instagram. Products that don't make my skin at least a bit red upon application are few and far between, and this has made the shortlist. If your skin is sensitive to fragrance, you may want to do a patch test first, but the scent is gentle enough that it didn't aggravate my rosacea. Fresh from the tube, there's a light floral scent that disappears quickly once the lotion is rubbed into skin. It's a just slightly tinted, blink-and-you'll-miss-it shade of blue. ![]() Just as enjoyable is the lotion's look and smell. It sinks into skin quickly, so you can move immediately on to makeup - this worked well under both liquid and powder foundations. It's even light enough that it doesn't make me and my acne-prone skin nervous. There's barely a trace of finish, but if I had to, I'd group it on the dewy side of the matte-to-dewy divide. Once it's applied, the non-greasy formula dries down quickly. The lotion is lightweight and spreads easily, so this drugstore-priced tube lasts for a long time. I take a dime-sized amount onto my palms and spread out from the center of my face. But each morning, it feels just as enjoyable as the last. You'd think that eventually, I'd get used to the small chemical marvel of a slightly chilled lotion on my skin every morning. In theory, my brain remembers that water-gel lotion always feels cool and soothing on skin. Water-gel, as everyone knows, is the most fun product texture in the skin-care world. ![]()
